Crochet Stanford Tree

One of our besties is heading to Stanford for grad school, so I crocheted him a tree that (hopefully) resembles their unofficial mascot. My creator notes are below.

This design is essentially a cone covered in 82 leaves with two eyes, a giant eyebrow, and a hat.

A few notes:

  • The pattern below is based on the notes I made when creating this tree. The pattern has not been tested so there may be errors to work around. Please let me know if you come across something that doesn’t make sense and I’ll do my best to update here.

  • This pattern should not be reproduced, sold, or otherwise claimed as your own. You may make items for yourself, to gift, or to sell, but always credit me as the designer and link back to this post.

Assembly

  1. Sew the leaves to the cone and tie each one off inside. I started at the bottom and worked around the tree before moving up to the next round. I left about 2 empty spaces in between each leaf and each round was about 4 rounds high. I ultimately ended up with 7 rounds of leaves with the bottom round containing 18 leaves and the top round containing 4 leaves.

  2. Stuff the cone

  3. Sew the cone bottom onto the cone

  4. Sew the eyebrows onto the tree

  5. Sew the eyes below the eyebrows

  6. Sew (or just place) the hat on top of tree

  7. Celebrate because you’re all done!
