Aviva Dress

Alanna of crochetwithalannamiall dropped the Aviva dress pattern last month. Her design is different than most other clothing items I have crocheted so far, but I’m pretty sure that’s the main reason I was so excited to get started on it. The pattern called for 4 ply fingering weight cotton yarn (which I constantly complain about not being able to find locally) so I decided to try ordering Painbox Yarns cotton 4 ply in the lapis colorway from an online store. It took longer than I liked to arrive, but the color was too pretty for me to stay grumpy about it for very long.

I have made several of Alanna’s patterns and I’d say this is her best one yet since she continues to do an excellent job with explanations, accompanying pictures, and thoughtful construction. It took me a little less than a month to finish crocheting the dress and overall I’m really happy with it. There are a few spots where I could’ve done a better job with measuring/gauge for a better fit, but I doubt anyone else would really notice. I also had a good first experience with the yarn I ordered for this piece - I’d definitely use it again in the future (barring any washing/wearing issues I discover as I wear this dress).
