Holo Taco Retro Collection

Holo Taco celebrated its fourth birthday by releasing the Retro collection. While I loved the neon colors, I wasn’t sure that I was going to like the jelly formula since I typically don’t like polishes that allow my nail line to show through. I ordered the collection anyway and am so glad I did - it’s really changed my mind about jelly polishes since there are so many combo and nail art options that I’ve had a lot of fun playing with.

The collection includes:

  • Be Kind Rewind - a bright blue jelly polish with scattered holo

  • Life In Plastic - a bright pink jelly polish with scattered holo

  • Hi-Def - a bright yellow jelly polish with scattered holo

  • Anti-Hero - a bright purple jelly polish with scattered holo

  • Box Office Bomb - a bright orange jelly polish with scattered holo

  • Retro On the Go Bag - not a part of the collection per se, but available as an addition. A different color palette of the version released in 2022

So far, I’ve really liked learning about working with jelly polishes - application is smooth and the formula isn’t difficult to build for bright pops of color. I’ve been wearing a skittle of all five colors on my dominant hand and some detailed nail art on my non-dominant hand and both are holding up really well. I’m not sure if that can be attributed to the formula of the polishes or if my nails do better with Smoothing Base (as opposed to Long Lasting Base that I’ve been using since the beginning of my Holo Taco collection). Either way, I’m really enjoying this collection.

One final positive note on this collection - it showed up 3 business days after launch (aka the Wednesday after a Saturday launch). This has never ever happened before. Shout out to the Holo Taco warehouse team as well as USPS (who was the only shipper this time - no UPS hand off to USPS to slow things down) who are getting stuff done and delighting customers!
