Donkicorn!

Apparently my crochet life has a unicorn theme going on - but this time it’s with a twist. My most recent creation is a donkey unicorn aka donkicorn. It’s kind of a joke for my team at work since we’re currently evaluating wants and needs for a tool that needs to be replaced. That project somehow acquired the code name involvind the word donkey and that morphed into donkicorn. Me being me, I decided we needed an actual donkicorn and got straight to work looking for a pattern on Ravelry to work one up.

I ended up finding the free Rainbow Donkey pattern by Jennifer Olivarez. It fit my team’s vision of a donkicorn almost perfectly except for color (which was easily altered). The only part I didn’t like (outside of my normal “no felt” rule in regards to the eyes) was using a doll joint for the neck, so I made the neck based off a pattern for the first unicorn I made (way back in 2016).

Donkicorn turned out pretty well. I wish he was a little bigger and that I had more time to give him a little booty tattoo like the one in the pattern, except maybe a lime instead of a heart. I was working on a hard deadline since my remote teammates were in for Anything is Possible week and I wanted Donkicorn to be part of the fun. I can always add his tattoo later. All my project notes can be found on my Ravelry project page.
